Forty Volunteers Needed per Week

Beginning on January 12th forty volunteers are needed each week to serve in the HarvestCall Rebuilding Ministry. Both skilled tradesmen and unskilled workers are needed. There is an opportunity for every willing heart to serve in this ministry. All volunteers are limited to one week to give more people an opportunity to serve. Skilled construction workers will provide leadership for volunteers on the work sites. HarvestCall tool trailers and vehicles will be on site throughout the term of the project. The work will include all phases of house construction from framing and roofing to painting and cleaning.

Damaged houses will be repaired and destroyed houses will be rebuilt. The Gospel message will be proclaimed as Christ’s love is shared with those we serve in His name. We have the opportunity to be His hands and feet as we minister to those whose lives have been turned upside down resulting in hopelessness, frustration and despair. They need to know that we care and most importantly that God cares. Serving from a posture of humility is of utmost importance.

Participation Guidelines and Waivers for Volunteers

Please refer to “Guidelines for Work Teams” for information regarding participation in this rebuilding ministry. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old to participate. An exception can be made for a 14- or 15-year-old who must be accompanied by a parent. Each volunteer will be required to sign the “Wavier and Release of Liability” form. Forms will be signed at registration.

Health and Wellness Concerns

Each volunteer is requested to evaluate their own personal health before traveling to Texas. If you are not feeling well or are experiencing fever or other flu-like symptoms, please do not come. Our desire is to protect the health of our long-term team, those we are serving and the other volunteers. Thank you for your understanding and support in this effort.

Housing

Volunteers will be housed in dormitory style housing at East Texas Baptist Encampment. All meals will be provided either at the camp or on the job site beginning on Sunday evening. Accommodations at the camp are available Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon. Volunteers should plan to depart by 5:00 pm on Friday. Weekends are used to clean and prepare for the incoming team.

A central kitchen/dining area will serve as the focal point of activities. Delicious home cooked meals will be served each day of the week beginning on Sunday evening through Friday morning breakfast. Brown bag lunches are carried to the job each day.

A worship service will be held at 4:00 pm followed by dinner at 5:30 pm and orientation immediately following dinner. All volunteers must be present for the orientation.

Airport Transportation

Airport Shuttle pick up on Sunday

East Texas Baptist Encampment in Newton is located approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes NE of Jack Brooks Regional Airport (BPT) which is in Beaumont Texas. We will provide shuttle service from/to this airport only.

If you need transportation from Jack Brooks Regional Airport (BPT) please send travel details via email at least one week prior to your arrival to Barb Slagel at slagelachc@gmail.com so we can save you a seat on the shuttle. A HarvestCall shuttle will pick up at 2:15 pm CST on Sunday for transport to East Texas Baptist Encampment.

Airport/Hotel Shuttle on Friday

On Friday afternoon, there will be one shuttle to Jack Brooks Regional Airport (BPT) for the 2:20 flight only. If you are using the shuttle to return to Jack Brooks Regional Airport (BPT) please book the 2:20 return flight! No other shuttle will be going to Jack Brooks Airport or any other airport on Friday.

If you choose to fly out on Saturday, you will ride the same shuttle on Friday afternoon that will make the only trip to Jack Brooks Regional Airport. To Register

If you are interested in serving, please check the Jasper Texas Rebuilding Ministry Registration Schedule for available dates and complete all of the information. By signing up, volunteers are committing to a five-day work week with a 2 pm Friday afternoon stop working time, unless you have the airport shuttle to catch. If the week you want is full - put your name on the wait list. This is the only way we know you have a desire to serve and is the only way that you have an opportunity to go to Texas to volunteer.

We are using a third party event registration system called Eventbrite to help us better manage waiting lists. Clicking the appropriate button below will take you to that site where you will register. The number of available spots will be visible in the registration system. Doing so will open an account with Eventbrite allowing you to manage (make changes or cancel) your registration.

The difference you can make: watch a homeowner's testimony from the 2021 rebuilding ministry.
