Prayer & Fasting
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
HarvestCall recognizes the need for God’s blessing and the presence of his Holy Spirit in all we attempt to do. In fact, one of our Guiding Principles
states: “We will pray and fast, seeking the Holy Spirit’s direction and the Lord’s will, consistent with the Word of God.” This refers specifically to those within the organization, but we covet the prayers of the entire church, knowing that "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16.
While the purpose and role of prayer is well understood and commonly practiced, there is less understanding about the purpose and role of fasting.

We are reminded of God’s will for his children in Luke 10:2: Therefore said he unto them, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
Specific Requests
- Pray for those serving in the field.
- Pray for the Elders and church brethren involved in directing the mission outreach.
- Pray that you and they might give willingly.
- Pray that the work will be blessed... that the Lord will provide the spiritual, financial, emotional, and physical resources to share the most wonderful gift of salvation.
The work of the Lord needs our prayers. We are taught in the Word:
Pray without ceasing. 1Th 5:17
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Ps 55:17
Prayer is access to the heart of God
We are assured in Mark’s gospel that prayer makes a difference. Every act of faith must rest on the promise of God. If we know that it is God's will, then we can pray with utter confidence that it will be done. In fact, we can pray with confidence on any subject as long as we are confident it is according to God's will as revealed in the Bible or by the inner witness of the Spirit. When we are living in touch with the Lord and praying in the Spirit, we can have the assurance of answered prayer before the answer actually comes.
