Missionary English Teacher Program

Tokyo, Japan

Japan was the first international mission outreach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the Apostolic Christian Church and began in the 1950’s. Japan has a population of 126.3 million with less than 1% evangelical believers, making up the second largest unreached people group in the world for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The opportunities are immense.

In the Tokyo church, located in the suburb of Tsutsujigaoka, Sis. Marie Inoue has long conducted English classes as a way to engage children and their families to the gospel. As she decided to retire from this outreach, the brothers and sisters of the church responded to a desire from the Holy Spirit to continue this work share the Gospel through English classes.

Missionary English Teacher Program

The Tokyo church asked for HarvestCall to come alongside them in this calling from the Lord. The proposal was a fully shared partnership between the Tokyo church and HarvestCall to send and support a missionary to continue the English classes.  Sister Lana Kaeb from Francesville, IN is our current missionary teacher. She lives in Japan teaching the Bible and English to children who have not heard the Gospel as well as serving in a bolstering role supporting the churches.

Currently there are 30 students enrolled in classes, and the individual and group ESL instruction occurs at the Tokyo church.  There are elementary age students, as well as some adult classes. Students are invited to church and Sunday school, and some students are attending.

The vision for the program is "to create relationships with Japanese nationals and expose students and their families to the Gospel."

We praise God for the success of this outreach!
